The spotlight is on director and screenwriter Liliana Cavani at this year's The Cinema of Inclusivity - A Tribute to Master Filmmakers of World Cinema, an event organized under the aegis of the Rete dell'Economia Sociale Internazionale RES - INT. After Frederick Wiseman (2017), Raymond Depardon (2018), and Margarethe Von Trotta (2019), Isola Edipo and Giornate degli Autori pay homage this year to Liliana Cavani, in their ongoing celebration of film figures whose careers are notable for their highly inclusive approach and their appreciation of alterity as an opportunity to develop fresh perspectives with an eye to diversity.
The organizers have released the following declaration :
"For her unwavering determination and skill at portraying the roots of our history and culture throughout her career without resorting to rhetoric or fearing moral judgment. At the same time, she has kept innate contradictions alive as a creative asset, one that has allowed her to bring themes such as women, resistance, death, science and religion to the screen by means of a complex depiction of the real meeting of possible forms of reality."
