The Veneto Region's meeting space at the Hotel Excelsior hosts a second round of talks under the aegis of Miu Miu Women's Tales, the showcase that celebrates the creativity of young actresses and women filmmakers. This talk on Monday, September 7th looked at the sensitive issue of gender equality, which is of ever-increasing importance to the film industry today.

"It's wonderful to see the changes we've been talking about for years finally happening," enthuses Francesca Hayword, principal dancer at the Royal Ballet in London and star of last year's screen version of the musical Cats. "We are where we need to be," she went on. "Just think of the performances by young women like Raffey Cassidy. They are eye-opening."

Costumes have an importance all their own. As a case in point, Raffey Cassidy herself (Dark ShadowsThe Killing of a Sacred Deer), who stars in the short Nightwalk at Miu Miu Women's Tales this year, has this to say: "The costumes are one of my favorite parts of a film. I love working out how to get into a character, and costumes have stories to tell." As for her take on the subject, Emma Corrin, the imminent face of Princess Diana in the hit series The Crown, says, "It was really interesting to study Princess Diana's wardrobe. From the minute she joined the royal family, she stopped following its rules for how to dress, and through her style as it evolved, you see a woman finding her own voice."
