Reservation required on giornatedegliautori.com

On the anniversary of Milo Manara’s eightieth birthday, Giornate degli Autori joins in on the celebrations for the artist who revolutionized comic book imagery. He has always had a dialogue with film, drawing scenes by hand. The film by Valentina Zanella, Manara, produced by K+ with support from the Veneto Region and the Veneto Film Commission, will be presented at the Accademia Gallery in Venice, while Milo Manara will meet Giornate audiences for an unmissable talk at the Casa degli Autori.

MANARA

Milo Manara has reinvented the imagery in comic strips, freeing women’s desires by means of the protagonists in his storyboards. His meeting with Hugo Pratt, a master of the genre and fellow traveler, was decisive to his own career, which explored the power of sex as a political act, culminating in the publication of Il gioco. His partnership with Federico Fellini redefined the borders between eroticism, cinema, and comics, and his unmistakable style as a draughtsman made him a model for entire generations.
