CINEMA, HISTORY & SOCIETY: BEHIND THE IMAGE

03 September 10:00 - Sala Laguna

In 2006, Giornate degli Autori launched a project about film heritage, the brainchild of Fabio Ferzetti: «100+1. Cento film e un paese, l’Italia». Over the years, thanks to Zetema Progetto Cultura and the joint efforts of Fabio Ferzetti, Giuliana Gamba, Giovanna Pugliese, and Stefania Sebasti, the project that familiarizes students’ gazes with images in motion, and not just in a cinematic form, has evolved. Its title, “Cinema, History & Society” is a nod to one of the original guidelines of the initial format: a panorama of the changes in Italian society through the lens of a camera. An ever-growing number of students in Lazio have been introduced to films ripe for rediscovery, encountering themes and milestones in Italy’s past and present. Over each year, students and teachers take part in educational sessions with the help of directors, actors, screenwriters, critics and film historians, to examine films and TV series and see their own ideas and emotions turn into stories using images as well. In Venice, Progetti Scuola ABC presents its film and audiovisual education program promoted by the Lazio Region, partnering with Giornate degli Autori, Cinecittà, and the Ministry of Culture’s Directorate General for Cinema. Some of the best short films made by students at Lazio schools during the school year 2024-2025 will be presented at the event.
