SO MANY DIFFERENT GAZES

01 September 16:00 - Casa degli Autori

When we talk about equality, gender equality is usually what first comes to our minds. Whether that be construed in the traditional fashion – the binary between men and women – or in a broader understanding of the term, it is clear that our gaze has moved from the dominant perspective to a plurality.
While the prevailing narrative sees us as nocturnal animals in evening clothes who rush from a red carpet to a photo-call, people don’t know that behind this image lie hidden structural, economic and work-related problems that have an enormous influence over all of our artistic and professional careers.
Most of us go from gig to gig, in a workplace with no protections or any guarantees of continuity. Which brings us to the obvious issue of sustainability, at times an unsurmountable hurdle, making it impossible often to even find work as screenwriters or directors.
There is an urgent need for structural measures that protect the multiplicity of film gazes, since supporting the work that screenwriters do ultimately means supporting the wealth of our collective imagination. In collaboration with the group Pari Opportunità at 100autori, WGI, and ANAC.
