The first article of the Italian constitution declares that Italy is a republic founded on work. But this right comes at what cost, in terms of human lives maimed or lost? The answer is in the stories of Lucia, Raffaella e Sandro, the protagonists of three lives shattered due to a lack of job safety, and whose accounts make up Luca Bianchini’s film Articolo 1. The film is not just a record of loss but a tribute to the many lives destroyed over the years. It’s an invitation to not forget and to ponder a system that all too often considers workers numbers, not people. In collaboration with Alveare Cinema.

ARTICOLO 1

Three stories of lives shattered on the job: Raffaella, a truck driver from Fondi, now paralyzed; Lucia, a widow with two children after a collapse at the construction site where her husband Luca worked; and Sandro, who died in a paper mill. The documentary gives a voice to the survivors, probing the human impact of the tragedies and restoring the dignity of the victims – as people, not numbers.
