Albert Serra talks about his career as a filmmaker in a masterclass open to the public.

Albert Serra (Banyoles, 1975) made his directorial debut in 2003 with Crespià, the Film not the Village, followed by Honor de cavalleria (2006) and El cant dels ocells (2008), where he reinterprets Don Quixote and the Nativity story. In 2010, he created Els noms de Crist, a 14-episode TV series commissioned by the MACBA in Barcelona. El Senyor ha fet en mi meravelles (2011), a sort of making-of of a film that doesn’t exist, preceded Història de la meva mort (2013), a retelling of the Casanova myth – which intersects with Dracula’s – and won the Golden Leopard at Locarno Film Festival. In 2015, he made a 780-minute installation on the origins of the Sacred (Singularity), shown as a collateral event at the 56th Venice Biennale. In 2016, he directed La Mort de Louis XIV, starring Jean-Pierre Léaud, followed by Roi Soleil (2018). In 2019, he presented Liberté at Cannes, winning the Special Jury Prize. In 2022, he returned to Cannes in the official competition with Pacifiction – Tourment sur les îles. Tardes de soledad, presented at the San Sebastián Festival, won the Concha de Oro for Best Film.
