The Ciak talk series

Inviting Italy's leading film personalities to compare notes on filmmaking is the raison d'etre behind the Ciak Talk Series at Giornate degli Autori, arranged by the Italian film monthly in collaboration with the independent sidebar of the 76th Venice Film Festival.

There will be four talks taking on four different aspects of the Italian film industry in the setting of the Villa degli Autori.

First up on August 31 at 3:15 pm, writer and director Mario Martone, whose film The Mayor of Rione Sanità is in the running for the Golden Lion at Venice this year, takes the stage to reflect on his relationship with his native Naples and its cultural scene, in a talk moderated by Giorgio Gosetti and featuring guests Ciak editor-in-chief Flavio Natalia and film critic Fabio Ferzetti.

On September 1 at 3:15 pm, a first-hand look at how the leading Italian production companies choose the filmmakers for their projects will see the CEO of Rai Cinema, Paolo Del Brocco, and the Vice President and CEO of Medusa Film, Giampaolo Letta, among others, weigh in on this key step in the making of a film.

On September 3 at 3 pm, the latest on the Italian film scene will be on the agenda, while on September 5 at the same time, the conversation turns to the internationalization of Italian films and TV series. Guest speakers include Stefano Sollima, whose Sky series and international co-production ZeroZeroZero is screening out of competition at Venice - Sollima has also helmed Hollywood films in recent years - and Nicola Maccanico, Executive Vice President for Programming at Sky Italia and CEO of Vision Distribution. Sky has two titles at Venice this year: besides ZeroZeroZero, also The New Pope directed by Paolo Sorrentino, starring Jude Law and John Malkovich, the sequel to the award-winning The Young Pope.
