The LUX Film Prize is focussed on sharing all forms of cinematography, as they all have an important role to play in showcasing European directors' talent and creativity.

This year the LUX Film Prize is paying special attention to young directors. This cast of exceptionally talented and young director boasts Europe's cinematographic skill, and shows that European cinema is a unifying force for the European population.

The Official Selection was revealed by Mr Pavel Svoboda, Chair of the Committee on Legal affairs of the European Parliament, Mr Bogdan Wenta, Member of the Committee on Culture and Education at the European Parliament, Ms Doris Pack, LUX Film Prize coordinator and Mr Karel Och, Artistic director of Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and LUX Film Prize Selection panel member.

Of the 10 films of the Official Selection, 3 entries will be selected and announced at the Venice Days press conference in Rome at the end of July 2015 as LUX Film Prize Competition. These films will compete to be the winner of the 2015 LUX Film Prize, but will become the core of the 2015 LUX Film Days.
In order to support the European film industry and help the most significant European (co)productions circulate beyond their national market the European Parliament LUX Film Prize subtitles the 3 competing films into 24 official languages of the European Union and screens them in all the 28 EU countries during the LUX Film Days. In doing so, the European Parliament supports cultural diversity, as it brings films to audiences across Europe and encourages debate on the issues they raise.
The 2015 LUX Film Prize winner will be awarded at the end of the year in Strasbourg. The winning film will also be made available for the visually and hearing-impaired and promoted by the European Parliament.
