Content Is the King

Under the aegis of 100autori, ANAC, WGI and author Giancarlo De Cataldo, a debate on the central role played by ideas as a tool for becoming stronger and more competitive in the AV content market. An occasion to take a closer look at the Franceschini Law, which places film and television in the same framework for the first time and is designed to promote both the growth of the industry and the artistic and cultural richness and variety of audiovisual works. For film, the twofold aim of the law gave rise to a proposal to establish automatic tax credits that safeguard both the aspects related to the box office performance of the works and the artistic recognition they receive.

And the prospects for TV series, which can't count on box office revenues and operate in a system that is much more limited in its recognition of a work's cultural and artistic value? Can the new law support and facilitate the entry of independent producers in the market? Above all, what incentives can be devised for the writers' and showrunners' creative freedom, rewarding genuine innovation and the search for stories and mediums that can compete in the global market?
